Welcome to the San Jacinto Valley Academy
|

|
Planning for the San Jacinto Valley Academy began with a core group of educators, parents and community leaders. On June 9, 1997, the San Jacinto Unified School District approved the charter school and our doors were opened to students on September 5, 1997.
Currently, the school has over 300 students enrolled and growth is on the rise. Achievement has been the sole focus of the school since its start. Using an inquiry - based learning method, San Jacinto Valley Academy stresses questioning from both students and staff to develop a lifelong love of learning. When the states Annual Yearly Progress reports and API ranking are released, San Jacinto Valley Academy meets and exceeds growth targets. It is one of the highest ranking schools in the valley.

The Western Association of schools and colleges (WASC), an accrediting commission, recently handed the school an accreditation and plenty of positive praise. The WASC report commended, "...The efforts made by the board, administration, teachers, students and parents to create a family atmosphere, where parents are encouraged to volunteer and participate, and a place where decisions are made by consensus.
The San Jacinto Valley Academy has final oversight from the San Jacinto Unified School District and its Board of Trustees. In 2004, a five year extension was signed allowing San Jacinto Valley Academy to move forward with expansion plans that now include a high school.
The California Charter School’s Beginning
The state legislature created charter schools in 1992 to introduce, develop, and encourage classroom innovation. Charter schools afford educators, parents, and students the opportunity to develop approaches outside the traditional classroom environment. |
